Elementary K-5

GRAVA's elementary program gives younger learners a structured, full-time online school day built around grade-level standards in reading, math, science, and social studies, on the Imagine Learning platform. A learning coach at home — usually a parent or guardian — supports your student through daily, self-paced lessons, while GRAVA's licensed teachers lead a weekly live session and provide feedback and check-ins throughout the week.

What a typical day looks like: A typical day blends short, self-paced work on personalized learning modules with reading and hands-on activities away from the screen, plus a short, live, teacher-led session — about 45 minutes once a week. Families build a flexible routine, with the learning coach supporting younger students through the weekly live session and daily independent practice. Most elementary days total just a few hours, adjusted to the student's grade level and pace.

Why families choose GRAVA Elementary:

  • Real teachers, real support. Licensed GRAVA teachers guide lessons and provide feedback and check-ins — with a learning coach supporting at home.
  • Flexible, structured days. A predictable routine of daily self-paced practice and a weekly live lesson that fits your family's schedule.
  • Hands-on, not all screen time. Reading and offline activities are built into each day.
  • A Grand Rapids path. GRAVA students remain Grand Rapids Area Schools students, with district support services behind them.

Only with GRAVA: GRAVA students can take part in Grand Rapids Area Schools activities, and families may elect in-person options such as music and band — benefits not available through outside online providers.

Getting started is simple:

  2. Meet with the GRAVA team to design a learning plan that fits your student.
  3. Your student logs in and begins — enrollment is for the full school year.

Getting set up: Students may use their own device, or GRAVA will provide a district iPad to any student who needs one, backed by a robust technology support system to assist with any technology needs.
