Grand Rapids Area Virtual Academy (GRAVA) — A Tuition-Free K-12 Online School for Minnesota Students

GRAVA is a free online school for Minnesota students in grades K-12. The state has approved GRAVA to teach these grades. We build a learning plan for each student and family. Every plan follows the state's rules. Your student can learn fully online. Or your student can take some classes online and some in person. Either way, GRAVA gives your child a strong education. Grand Rapids Area Schools stands behind every student.

Why Families Choose GRAVA

  • A real district diploma. High school students pick a home high school: Grand Rapids High School or Bigfork High School. They earn that school's diploma, and their GRAVA courses show up on the same transcript as in-person classes.
  • Stay connected to your school. GRAVA students can join Grand Rapids Area Schools activities and sports. They can also take in-person classes like music and band. You get online flexibility without losing your school community.
  • Flexible, full or part-time. Enroll full-time online or build a hybrid schedule that blends online academics with one in-person course.
  • Support that follows the student. Licensed teachers, on-demand tutoring seven days a week, school counselors, and wraparound services including Special Education and English Learner support.
  • A device if you need one. Students can use their own device, or GRAVA will give a district iPad to any student who needs one. Our tech support team is ready to help with any tech question.
